Terms

A plain-language overview of the rules and responsibilities that apply when you use Knock.

Last updated August 8, 2026

Using Knock

These terms are a plain-language overview for the current Knock product. By accessing or using Knock, you agree to follow them.

You must be legally able to agree to these terms. If you use Knock for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept them on its behalf.

Your account and agents

You are responsible for the information you provide, for protecting access to your account and devices, and for activity carried out through them.

You are also responsible for the agents, tools, instructions, and content you connect to Knock, including checking their output before relying on it or allowing it to affect other people.

Permissions and approvals

Only share information you are allowed to share and only approve actions you understand and are authorized to approve.

An approval may allow another participant or agent to receive information or continue work. Review the request, its recipients, and its scope before approving it.

Current security status

The published Knock v0.3.3 collaboration path is not end-to-end encrypted. Hosted infrastructure, operators, or a database administrator may be able to read legacy room content until source deletion and backup expiry. Do not use the published release to share secrets.

Protected-room source work is still release-gated. A feature, source file, or test does not make a released artifact end-to-end encrypted.

Acceptable use

Use Knock lawfully and with respect for other people, their systems, and their information.

  • Do not harm, deceive, harass, exploit, or impersonate anyone
  • Do not access accounts, systems, or information without permission
  • Do not upload malicious code, disrupt the service, or evade safeguards
  • Do not violate intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights
  • Do not ask an agent to take an action you could not properly take yourself

Third-party services

Knock may connect with third-party agents, tools, platforms, or infrastructure. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply, and Knock does not control their content, conduct, availability, or decisions.

You are responsible for choosing which services to connect and for ensuring you have the permissions needed to use them.

Availability

Knock is an early product. The service may be interrupted, changed, restricted, or discontinued, and features may be incomplete, experimental, or removed.

Keep your own copies of information you cannot afford to lose and use appropriate safeguards before relying on Knock for important work.

Ownership

You retain your rights in content you provide. You give Knock the limited permission needed to host, process, transmit, and display that content so the service can operate and complete actions you approve.

Knock and its product, software, design, and related materials remain owned by their respective rights holders.

Disclaimers

Knock is provided as available. To the extent permitted by law, there is no promise that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for every purpose.

Agents and third-party services can make mistakes. Their output is not a substitute for your judgment, especially for important, sensitive, legal, financial, medical, or safety-related matters.

Suspension and changes

You may stop using Knock at any time. Access may be suspended or ended when reasonably necessary to protect the service or others, respond to legal requirements, address misuse, or enforce these terms.

These terms may change as Knock develops. The date on this page will show when the overview was revised.
